About Ravnedans

Ravnedans has been organised every year since it's launch in 2010 as the first contemporary dance festival in the South of Norway.

Since it began, the festival programme has flourished from the initial walking-tour performance in Ravnedalen, to encompass activities hosted in Kristiansand city centre over a whole week. In addition to this, the programme includes 10 performances delivered throughout the festival at venues including Kristiansand Kunsthall, Teateret and Aladdin, as well as intimate shows, workshops, masterclasses, and not forgetting social events such as RavnBar.

The festival program is orchestrated by the Ravnedans Committee and starts with the yearly Open Call in conjunction with invitations, recommendations and applications.

The festival appeals to a loyal local audience who have attended the festival since it started in 2010, as well as visited by specialist interest groups. The Summer of 2016, Ravnedans had near to 1000 paying festival go-ers, and for the first time, received the Norwegian Arts Council Cultural Fund for Organisers, awarded every 3 years.
