THE NORDIC ESCAPE

TONE KITTELSEN OG MAJA HANNISDAL (NO)

The Nordic Escape is a dance film made in collaboration between dancer Tone Martine Kittelsen, videographer Maja Hannisdal, and composer Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir. The film revolves around the theme of our times restlessness.

The film works with the medium of contemporary dance, minimal dialog, and a vast, open soundscape. The dancer’s movements convey a struggle between the need to escape and the need for calm. There is a constant restlessness in contrast to the calm of the majestic nature, giving a tension to an otherwise slow pace cinematography. The film aims not to pass any judgement one way or another over different life choices in our Nordic corner of the world, but rather offer an abstract image of a drastic change in a person’s choice of lifestyle.
