The class will contain some hands on work and improvisation structures playing with space and time. Warming up the senses and preparing the body for dancing.

Siri Jøntvedt is a dancer and chorographer based in Oslo, Norway. She is educated at Ballettakademien, Gothenburg, The Norwegian Opera Ballet School and KHIO (Statens balletthøgskole) and in New York at Merce Cunningham studio, New York Dance Intensive and Movement Research. She has studied improvisation, release based and somatic techniques influenced by teachers such as Nina Martin, Julyen Hamilton, David Zambrano and more. In her own work, she has been teaching and working with improvisation as a method and performance practice since 1990.

As a freelance dancer she has worked and toured frequently with both Norwegian and foreign choreographers, such as Frances Becker, Nina Martin, Amanda Steggell, Henriette Pedersen, Lise Ferner, Un-Magritt Nordset, Sissel Bjørkli, Erna Omarsdottir and more. She toured Norway several times with Riksteateret.

Together with dance artist Snelle Hall she established the group Siri&Snelle Produksjoner. The two of them has made work together since 1991, often in collaboration with other artists and musicians. They have made several full time pieces and has shown their work in Norway, Europe and in the US. Lately they made commissioned work “Heddaing” for WOW Festival in San Diego (2013), “Notes on Cracking” for Carte Blanche (2015). Their latest full evening production “Jeg er Kosmos” was shown in Dansens Hus (2016).

Siri also collaborates with musician Ivar Grydeland. Together they were part in the Norwegian Artistic Research Program with the project INTERIMP, a collaboration between dancers and musicians (2012-2015).

In 2015 she got a five year work grant from Art Council Norway.
